Competency, Accountability, Professionalism, and Planning for H&S - 2 Day Summit

Introduction:

2017 is the tenth anniversary of ACHASM, and the first ACHASM symposium / summit was staged in 2011. The objective of the summit is to provide a forum for construction industry role players to address construction H&S related matters with specific emphasis on topical issues, the development of knowledge and skills areas / competency, and professionalism.
The summit will be of relevance to architects, construction H&S agents / managers / officers, construction project managers, engineers, inspectors, interior designers, quantity surveyors, and all interested construction role players.

Programme:

Day 1 will feature presentations addressing, among other, accountability, Department of Labour update, excavation H&S, financial provision for construction H&S, performance of CHSAs and CHSOs personal protective equipment, professionalism, SACPCMP update, statistics and the cost of accidents (FEM), and support work. These will be followed by an ‘H&S Rant: What keeps me awake at night! courtesy of the delegates.
Day 2 will feature four workshops, namely: baseline risk assessment, H&S specification, and designer report; scaffolding; support work design issues, and financial provision for construction H&S: Two case studies.

Continuing Professional Development:

The South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP), and the South African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Saiosh) will both recognise the summit.
